Carson Endodontics is simply the best! Dr. Carson took the time to explain every step of the procedure and answered all of my questions. The clinic is clean and modern, and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. My root canal was done with such precision that I didn't feel any discomfort at all. If you're looking for top-notch endodontic care, this is the place to go!

    • 1. What is endodontics, and how does it differ from general dentistry?

Endodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry focused on diagnosing and treating issues related to the dental pulp and root canals. Unlike general dentists, endodontists have additional training to perform complex procedures such as root canals, endodontic surgeries, and treating traumatic dental injuries. Endodontists aim to save natural teeth and address problems that involve the inside of the tooth.

    • 2. What should I expect during a root canal procedure?

During a root canal at Carson Endodontics, we begin by numbing the area to ensure your comfort. The procedure involves removing the infected or damaged pulp inside the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the canals, and then filling and sealing them to prevent future infection. Most patients experience little to no discomfort during the procedure, and it is typically completed in one or two visits.

    • 3. What should I do to prepare for my visit to Carson Endodontics?

Before your appointment, you should continue your normal oral hygiene routine and eat as you normally would unless instructed otherwise. Bring any dental records or X-rays your general dentist has provided, and if you take any medications, be sure to bring a list with you. Arrive a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

    • 4. What are the signs of an infected tooth that might require endodontic treatment?

Signs of an infected tooth include severe pain when chewing or biting, lingering sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures, discoloration of the tooth, swelling and tenderness in the gums, or a persistent pimple on the gums. If you experience any of these symptoms, it’s important to contact Carson Endodontics for an evaluation.

    • 5. What are the benefits of seeing an endodontist for a root canal?

Endodontists are specialists who have completed additional training beyond dental school, focusing specifically on procedures related to the inside of the tooth. Their expertise and use of advanced technology often result in higher success rates and more precise treatments. Seeing an endodontist can increase the chances of saving your natural tooth and avoiding more extensive dental work in the future.
